40 Halloween Costume Ideas 2015

40 Halloween Costume Ideas

Halloween is hands down my favorite holiday. I absolutely love dressing up, but I hate when I have the same costume as five other girls. I always hunt for new ideas a couple weeks in advance, but the same "unique" and "clever" costume ideas seem to keep popping up, and suddenly they aren't so unique anymore. Today I'm sharing the list of costumes I'm thinking about for this year, plus some that I've done in the past! So, if you want some costumes ideas that aren't on everyone else's mind, keep reading!

To Blog... or Not To Blog...

Blog, To Blog or not To Blog

So a week or so ago, I wrote this long drawn out post about why I haven't show up around here in forever, and how I was going to stop blogging, and blah blah blah. It's really a long story, and I decided not to put it up. Obviously. So edited version here we come! Oh, and before I tell you why I decided to stop being a blogger, I'll let you in on a secret that I'm going to keep blogging as long as I can. You'll understand in a second.

College Freshman Survival Guide

Freshman year of college was a blast for me, and now going into my senior year, I find myself reminiscing about it all the time. I like to think I was pretty spot on with your typical college freshman; I was excited to be on my own, do big kid things, and try going to parties, but I was nervous about how my classes would go, making friends, and... going to parties.  You're in a new atmosphere, surrounded by new people, doing new things, and everything is just...well new. There are things you've heard about and want to try, but are afraid to. There are things you have to do, but are really dreading. Don't sweat it, I'll give you a run down of what to expect, and what to do!

Types of Neighbors

In the 4 summers (and school years and blah blah blah) that I've lived on my own, I've lived in an apartment complex, a house that was split into two apartments and a studio, and a duplex. Add to the fact that I've also lived in two extremely different locations (New England and North Carolina) and it's safe to say I've had every type of neighbor there is... well except for the one that breaks into your house and kills you. Gulp. I kid, I kid. Anyhow, here are some types of neighbors you'll find out there:

KONG Dog & Cat Toy Review

It's beyond time that I do another pet product review, but with everything going on with my family these last few weeks, I just haven't had the time! Today I'm finally sitting down to review two different Kong products that I picked out and received free of charge to test out by Chewy, my favorite online shopping site for my pets! The first product is the KONG Squeeze Ball With Handle dog toy, and the second is the KONG Active Feather Teaser cat toy! So keep on reading to see what Molly and Zimby thought.

20 Thoughts While Falling Asleep

All of you fellow insomniacs/college students/human beings can probably relate to this. I feel like this happens to me every night! You'd think I'd learn by now... Here are 20 thoughts I have while falling asleep.

27 Things Tourists Say (and DO) in Beach Stores

Over my 6 summers working and managing a store on the beach, there are some questions I get asked on a daily basis by tourists, and I always have to give the most polite answer possible. Here's what I really want to say:

How To: Plan a Baby Shower + Tips

Baby Shower, Baby, Tips, How To, Baby Shower Planning

As I've mentioned in previous blog posts, one of my best friends is pregnant, so me and another one of our friends threw her a baby shower! It was a lot of fun, pretty low key, and went surprisingly smooth. With all that said, I thought I'd share what we did since it was totally Pinterest inspired, and a great example of how to throw a baby shower without going crazy with stress.

Hill's Ideal Balance Wet Dog & Cat Food Review

This month I picked out the Hill's Ideal Balance wet dog and cat food for Molly and Zimby to try from Chewy. I had yet to try Molly on a wet food, and I usually avoid them with Zimby because they tend to be filled with junk. I liked the Hill's brand because the ingredients are actual meat and veggies, instead of by-product or meals. When you open a can it actually looks like meat and veggies too which was great! Now on to what Molly and Zimby thought.

May Fashion Finds

I am so excited to be able to wear summer clothes and colors and yay! I was wearing teal nail polish and bright orange clothes back in March when it first started to warm up, if that tells you how happy I am. I've found myself window screen shopping lately, and favoriting so many things online that I want to buy when I find buried treasure in my back yard, so why not share? To sweeten the deal, everything is under $50, so maybe I don't need the full treasure chest if I don't pay my bills... Heh.

Hotties Of The Week | Storybrooke Edition

OUAT, Once Upon A Time

So I have been hooked (you'll get my pun later) on Once Upon A Time since I started watching it last month. If you remember, I thought I was a princess until I was about 8 (and I'm dead serious) so all of the fairy-tales brought to modern day... Swoon. What's even more swoon worthy, are some of the hotties seen in Storybrooke. Ow ow.

Review: FURminator Dual Brush & Nutro Ultra Biscuits

Pets, Review, FURminator Dual Brush, Nutro Ultra Buscuits, Treats, Dog Brush

I am so excited to be doing this post today, because I know so many of you guys have fur-babies like me! A little over a month ago Chewy reached out to me asking if I would like to be part of their blogger program where I get to choose products for Molly and Zimby to test out, free! Of course I said yes, and today I'm sharing what I chose for this month. If you have never heard of Chewy, it's an online shop where you can get all of your pet products from food, to accessories, to beds, to grooming supplies! Anyway, let's get on to the review.

MIA ED posts?

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I haven't done really any eating disorder posts since my first couple in February. I told you they would be few and far between, and that I want to stay real with you guys. The last couple months have been a struggle for me in terms of staying healthy. As I've said before, I don't want to do posts about beating an eating disorder if I'm not 100%; I would feel like a liar. I have, however, been doing great the last few weeks, and am expecting that to continue. If it does, then I will absolutely get a post up! As always, you can submit ideas, your own struggles, questions, or comments here anonymously.

Now let's get off that topic, and get excited for my 21st birthday!!! Send happy thoughts and cupcakes my way (no... but seriously). This girl turns 21 in 3 days.

Talk soon!

Why I Can't Wait To Turn 21!

21, birthday, 21st birthday, why I can't wait to turn 21

Yippee! It's that time again for me to share why I can't wait to turn 21! I did this post last year about turning 20, and it was my most popular post for the year. Basically I'm going to talk about this last year, what turning 21 means to me, and why I'm excited! Now let's get to it.

Molly Update!

goldendoodle, golden retriever, poodle, dog

Now that I've had Molly for almost a month,  her true personality is shining through! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out this post, where I talk about my rescue dog, Molly! Anyway, I thought I would do a little update on how she is adjusting, things she likes and dislikes, and a little about her personality and our routine!

Dear Leg Day Skippers... | Rant

I'm pretty sure this post is for me and me alone, and more than half of you are going to be like "...what is wrong with this girl?" but I don't even care. These words need to be said people! This rant is more of a PSA on behalf of all girls! I can't keep it in any longer.

The Reality of Apartment Hunting | Tips & Tricks

Apartment hunting, Apartments, Tips

It's that time of year (at least for us college students) where you have to figure out where you'll be living for the summer, or the following school year. If you're staying where you are, take a seat. This one isn't for you, you lucky... thing you! For the rest of us, this means apartment hunting. There are so many factors to consider, and so many choices out there. It's easy to get overwhelmed! Since I've done this a few times before (and am going through the process again) I have some tips to share with those of you who may be new to the game.

DWTS Dream Cast!

I am beyond obsessed with Dancing With The Stars, like I don't understand why it took me so long to discover this passion. Before every new season, there are always names I'm hoping to see in the lineup; my Dream Cast if you will. If you're a DWTS fan, you totally feel me. Anyway, before I babble on about how everyone needs to watch it (because you do), let's just cut to the chase.

Gronk with Witney Carson
Gronk is one of my spirit animals. I mean I watched a video of him twerking on a car. He can do anything.

Jonathan Scott with Karina Smirnoff
Drew would be great too. I just want to see one of them doing the Rumba. Anyone else?

Danny Devito with Allison Holker
I just want this to happen so badly. Like can you imagine?

Robert Downy Junior with Peta Murgatroyd
I need to do a Hottie of the Week post on him. Because I don't care what his age is, he's a total hottie.

Drake with Emma Slater
It was him or Kendrick, but I can totally see Drake grasping the emotional aspect of dance.

Jensen Ackles with Sharna Burgess
This is purely because I'm obsessed with him. I have no idea if he has any dancing ability and honestly I'll be insanely jealous of his partner but... it's Jensen.

Sophia Bush with Artem Chigvinstev
She is so versatile, I would just love to see her try DWTS. Plus she's just awesome.

Jennifer Aniston with Keo Motsepe
She is always so put together, but also has this quirky side. I think she'd be so fun on DWTS!

Julia Roberts with Tony Dovolani
I don't think I even need to explain this one.

Miley Cyrus with Val Chmerkovskiy
I can't decide if she would be a goof or take it seriously... but it would be hilarious regardless.

Madonna with Derek Hough
She's legendary. Who wouldn't want to see her on DWTS?

 Leighton Meester with Mark Ballas
How do I begin to explain my love for Leighton Meester. Basically I want to be her, and I could live vicariously through her on DWTS. So, ya.

Who would you love to see on DWTS? There are so many more celebs I could list, maybe I'll have to do a Part 2!

Good Golly Miss Molly | Rescue Dog!

So yesterday was national puppy day... How did I not know this?! For me, I will always remember March 23rd as the day I rescued a sweet dog. Let me introduce you to my new girl, Molly! I was expecting to adopt a different dog, but I'm happy everything worked out the way it did, because now I have an awesome new friend.

The Insomniac Reset

My sleep schedule is so thrown off, I think I need to completely start over and work my way from sleeping like a newborn to sleeping like a big girl. I'd love to say that it's because of the time change (and I swear it partly is!) but we all know I'm an insomniac to the core. Team No Sleep for the win y'all. Yes, I just said y'all. I wanted to try it out. I don't think it's for me. Moving on...

REVIEW | Dessange Oleo Miracle Hair Line

*Disclaimer: All products were sent to me from Influenster to try out. I'm under no obligation to blog about what they send me, nor do I get paid for promoting Influenster or the products/brands. I'm free to give my honest opinion, so I share what I like  :)

Holy cow, I'm going to rave for a second, but only because I'm seriously obsessed with this product line I got in my #JadoreDessange Voxbox! I was sent the Dessange Oleo Miracle shampoo, conditioner, and leave in oil treatment to test out, and I'm in love. I've already recommended it to my mom, roommate, and basically everyone I know, so you know I really love it! It's branded for over-processed or damaged hair, but I say it's for anyone! It left my hair feeling and looking so amazing, now I have to see what stories carry it near me!

Concerns Sharing My Story + Starting A Monthly Support Post!

You all continue to open my eyes to how amazing people can be. So many of you have taken my survey, and overall the majority of you want me to do some more posts about eating disorders, and do a monthly anonymous support post! I think that is so awesome that you guys want to learn more and spread awareness. The consensus is that there should be more about eating disorders in blogland, so let's do that guys! So today I want to share with you how you can submit stories, thoughts, etc. to the monthly support post, and also my thoughts and fears about me talking about my own eating disorder (because I think it's important to share).

More Discussion About Eating Disorders? | Survey

First off, I want to start out by saying a huge thank you. I had no idea what to expect with yesterday's post, but I definitely did not expect the overwhelming positive response from you all. The comments, emails, and text messages (you know who you are) meant so much to me! So thank you! Something really important has been brought to my attention, and that is the lack of discussion/awareness in regards to eating disorders. Personally I don't know of many bloggers who talk about eating disorders, and it seems like that is the consensus among many of you as well. I think it's really important for people to have someone to relate to, and for their to be discussion. That being said, I am willing to continue doing posts about eating disorders if that is what you dolls want. While I'm still not 100% comfortable having it out there (and honestly never will be), it is too important a topic for me to bring up once and never talk about again. SO, I created a survey for you to take, so I can figure out my next course of action.

What I Want You To Know About My Eating Disorder

I can't count the times I have started and deleted this post over the last year. I'm just going to go for it, and not delete anything. Hopefully it doesn't get too jumbled, but if it does then just stick with me. This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness week. I mentioned it in a post last year, and as much as I really wanted to dive into the topic, I just couldn't. Not then. Honestly not even now. But I'm going to try. So why is this topic so important to me? Because I have an eating disorder.

Let's Talk About Sexual Assault

I'm not really sure how to write an intro for today's topic, so I'm just going to throw it out there. I'm going to talk about sexual assault. Please please please click away if this is a sensitive topic for you, because I don't want trigger anyone! As you may know, I'm volunteering with my local Rape Crisis Center and am just about done with my training. I've learned so much, I wanted to share some of this knowledge with others. What I'm going to talk about today will barely chip the tip of the iceberg, but it will be a good start. So if you're still with me, keep on reading.

Football for Dummies

You Guys! Today is the Superbowl!! I'm a New Englander to the core and have always loved the Patriots, but I haven't always understood the game, even when I was a cheerleader in high school. Last year my amazing old roommate Rachel took a few hours and broke it down for me, and it finally clicked! Today I'm going to break it down, as simple as possible, so you can at least have an idea of what's going on tonight.

My Chore Chart / Weekly Cleaning Schedule

I think by now it's safe to assume that you all know how schedule/list obsessed I am. I have assignments written in my planner for the rest of the semester, a budget that goes through May, and I even have a schedule (kinda) for this blog. Surprise surprise, I also have a cleaning schedule/chore chart. It's completely for myself, and I don't follow it 100% of the time, but it helps me stay on top of cleaning around my apartment. If you want a breakdown of my chart, keep on reading!

5 College Care Package Ideas

Since we're almost at the end of January, I think it's safe to assume that you college readers are back at school for Spring semester. I'm just finishing up my second week of classes, and I'm already asking my Mom to send me stuff. #NoShame guys. Care packages are huge for us college students, whether we go to school 30 minutes down the road or 1,000 miles away (cough cough that's me). Today I'm sharing what to put (or ask for) in a college care package, since I think most people get confused.

Holy Grail Dairy-Free (Vegan) Box Mac n Cheese!

Breaking News: I have found the holy grail dairy-free (vegan really) box mac n cheese!! If you've been following along, you'll know that I was obsessed with blue box mac n cheese before finding out I'm allergic to milk proteins back in 2013, and have tried tons of different dairy-free box mac n cheese variations that were all awful, like this one. I have made some from scratch by melting daiya cheese, but it's just not the same as boxed. Anyway, if you're dairy-free and missing all the cheesy goodness of normal mac n cheese, you've got to try the Earth Balance Vegan Mac n Cheese!

The January prompt is to "write yourself a love letter" where you reflect on the last year and write goals for this year. So really this post is for me more so than you, but you can still read it :)

Keeping Up With Online Classes: How To Stay Organized

Today marks the first day of Spring Semester for us here at UNCW, as well as many of you I'm sure. With 3 of my classes being online this semester, organization and scheduling is key. There's no one reminding you take take your online exam, or turn in your homework by midnight. To avoid the unfortunate accident of forgetting about an online test (been there, done that) I've put together tips for staying on top of your online classes.

Easy Dairy Free Hot Chocolate Recipe

Burr! It's been freezing here in North Carolina. I feel like I'm back in New England! All I want when the weather is cold like this, is to snuggle up in a blanket, watching Netflix, and drinking yummy hot chocolate. Thanks to my milk allergy, I can't have any of the normal powder packs of hot chocolate. Boo! Luckily for me (and you) I've figured out a super easy, super chocolaty dairy free hot chocolate recipe to whip up on cold days and nights. Let's get to it!
