What's In My Travel Makeup Bag

Between Spring Break in Florida and my mini road trip to North Carolina, I've been doing a lot of traveling lately. Each time I travel it gets easier and easier to pack, and I seem to have established some makeup essentials that always go into my travel makeup bag, so I thought I would share! I mostly bring the basics, and things that are easy to use for both day and nighttime looks.

By the way, my travel bag is old and the inside is dirty. I'm not going to pretend that the light pink inside that carries all my messy makeup manages to stay perfectly clean. Puh-lease.

Anyway, here's what I have in there:

1. Moisturizer- My skin gets dry during road trips, and the changing climate doesn't help either. I love my Neutrogena Naturals Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Night Cream, because it's thick but not heavy. It hydrates my skin after a long car ride, and I can apply a light amount for daily use. It's also amazing to put on if I accidentally burn my face, and has nothing bad in it that could possibly irritate my skin.

2. Concealer- I don't really wear foundation because I don't need to. On the average day, I'll just slap on some concealer and call it good. My favorite overall is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. I use it to brighten my under eye area and cover any redness. I also bring my L'Oreal Photoready concealer for any blemishes that may arise during the trip.

3. Bb Cream- Like I said, I don't really wear foundation. If I have extra time or want to give my skin a boost, I'll put on a little Bb cream. My favorite is the Physicians Formula Super BB. It's hydrating, stays on all day, provides good coverage, and doesn't look too matte or too shiny.

4. Powder- I like to bring powder mostly to set my concealer or Bb cream if I'm wearing it. I usually run the tiniest amount of Rimmel Stay Matte powder across my t-zone. You don't want to use too much because it can look cakey. To set my entire face or even out my skin tone, I love my It Cosmetics Celebration Foundation powder. Again I just use a tiny amount.

5. Blush/Bronzer- To make sure I look alive and a bit less like Casper the friendly ghost, I always apply a little blush. My favorite is a shimmery pink one from one of the Elf Blush & Bronzer duos. It also doubles as a highlight. Sorry, but this duo doesn't have a name! If I want to go a little more bold, I'll use one of the Cheekers blushes by Covergirl. If I am in a sunny warm place, I usually throw on a little bronzer to pretend that I'm not from New England. I love the Physicians Formula Baked Bronzers for this.

6. Eye Shadow- I keep it really simple on eye shadows when I travel. I mostly just do neutral eye looks if I even bother to put eye shadow on, so I bring my Physicians Formula Canyon Classics Quad, Physicians Formula Hint of Taupaz Eyebrightener, and Mabelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold to use as a base. I love the quad because it doubles as my brow powder!

7. Mascara & Liner- Mascara is a must. My favorite one is the L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara. I always curl my lashes before applying, and it lasts all day. If I decide to wear liner, I love the Rimmel Scandaleyes liner in brown and black.

8. Sunblock- If I'm going to be outside a lot or at the beach, I'll put a little sunblock on. I like the Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby Stick. Just make sure not to get it near your eyes! It hurts.

9. Balm Stain- I'm not really a lip girl, but sometimes if I'm feeling bored I'll throw on a combination of my Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stains (Smitten & Romantic) and top it off with my Maybelline Babylips (Soothing Sorbet).

10. Brushes- I mean, these are kind of a no brainer... I bring my powder and blush brushes, a few eye brushes, and one for my brows. Clearly I love the Ecotools brushes.

I also like to throw in some tweezers, hair ties, and bobby pins. If you're going on a trip soon, I hope this helps! And if you're just nosy like I am and like to see what makeup people bring with them, I hope this entertained you :)

Wilmington Stole My Heart

I didn't expect to fall in love with it, but I did. Wilmington is the place I'm supposed to be. I know it.

If you didn't know, last Wednesday to Saturday my mom and I took a road trip down to Wilmington, North Carolina. I'm transferring to UNCW in the fall, and wanted to check out apartments and get a feel for the city.

I'm not a city girl, but I'm also by no means a country girl. I grew up in a small beach town that sees tons of tourists in the summer, but feels like a ghost-town in the winter. I'm a bit sheltered to say the least. I'm not a huge fan of big cities. The constant noise, tons of people flooding the sidewalks, traffic...It's not my thing.

Wilmington is the perfect city for me. It feels like a great bit town. The UNCW campus is nestled off of one of the main roads, the historic area is beyond gorgeous, downtown has incredible amounts of shops without the hustle and bustle, and most importantly, the beach is amazing! Everyone seemed so much friendlier than here in New England, and I never once felt overwhelmed. I found an apartment that I'm in love with, and everything is just falling into place.

I'm counting down the days until I move down there. I'll miss all my friends and family, but I'm beyond excited to begin this new journey.

It's My Birthday and I'll Blog When I Want To

Hello Sunshine. So glad you're here to join in on the fun today. 20 years ago at 7:44am, after being two weeks overdue and causing my grandparents to keep rescheduling their travel plans, I finally decided to grace the world with my presence. Heh heh. It's my Birthday!!

I wanted to do a special post for my 20th birthday. Yippee for no longer being a teenager! Even as a teenager I always felt like people saw me as a little kid. Now that I actually feel like an adult, I thought I would celebrate the end of my kid years with 20 pictures of me when I was little! Brace yourself.

My wonderful parents holding little me. Awww

My older sister holding my newborn self!

I was a big baby. What do you expect after being two weeks late?!

I got pretty cute right? You can't deny it. Lil old baby me, clapping my hands, playing with bubbles with a bow in my hair. What's not to love?

In case you were wondering, my first word was "kitty." Crazy cat lady before I was even out of diapers.

I'm pretty sure I lived in dresses...

I was also a pretty stylish little lady in the 90's. Diva alert.

Teeheehee. Look at my hair!

 And another one...

I can't even. What a little girly girl!
Spiral curls, big poofy dress and chocolate on my face. Basically sums up my life.

I wasn't always a girly girl... Yes, those are cutoffs.

What a little model I was.

Have I ever mentioned that I thought I was a princess until I was 8? I'm being completely serious too...

Again with that chocolate on the face...

Piglets and cupcakes. I love it.

Gotta love those elementary school days!

My cousin Ash & I...Not sure why I was freaking out...

Always the cheerleader. Clearly this was the awkward phase of my life where I didn't make the best fashion choices...

Hope you enjoyed looking at these old pics as much as I did!

Hottie of the Week 5: Ed Westwick

So I totally missed a week (okay maybe two) of hotties, but they're back! This weeks hottie is one of my favorites. Classy with a bad-boy look. Yum. His name is...

Ed Westwick

 Source- Celebbest

He played Chuck Bass on one of my favorite shows, Gossip Girl, along side a previous hottie of the week Chace Crawford. Ed's character on the show started out as an out of control creep (sorry) but turned into my absolute favorite. He still had his bad boy thing going on, but Blair is his total weakness and...just go watch the show okay?

Enjoy the eye candy!

Why I Can't Wait to Turn 20

There are a few posts that I was thinking about for today, but all I want to write about is how excited I am for my birthday in 4 days! I'm excited about my excitement...does that make sense?

In previous years, I've never gotten too excited for my birthday. 17 was my absolute favorite age, and I didn't want to turn 18. Or 19. This past year I've been dreading turning 20, until now. With power age comes responsibility (hah spiderman), and for some reason it's always scared me. I've always been mature for my age, and quite a responsible person, but it was by choice. When you grow up, you're kind of forced to be responsible because you have less of a cushion if you mess up.

I've loved my teenage years and haven't been wanting them to end, but now I'm excited to enter into my twenties. I have changed in so many ways in the past year, and I'm sick of the stigma that comes with being a "teen." I tell people I'm 19 and they suddenly discredit my opinions or assume I'm an irresponsible college student just looking to party. Hopefully leaving the realm of teens will put an end to that. My thoughts and opinions are changing. I've really started to figure out who I am as a person this year, and I know that will continue on into my twenties.

This year I've realized how much my friends and family truly care about me, and support me. Between my decision to transfer schools next fall, and some other personal struggles, my friends and family have been nothing but supportive and encouraging. I feel so blessed to have these amazing people in my life at a young age, so when I celebrate my birthday, I'm also celebrating them.

Needless to say, I feel very different about my birthday this year, and I can't wait to celebrate! This next year will be a great year for me, I just know it. Send lots of birthday love my way this Saturday!

Hunger Games- College Edition

Raise your hand if you're in College and getting projects, tests, and papers dumped on you before finals. Can I raise both hands and my feet? The next 14 days are going to be crazy for me, so let me apologize in advance for any rambling you might see on my blog. I have tests, discussion days, presentations, projects, and papers due basically every day. Throw babysitting, tutoring, and my lab hours in there and...well now you understand what I meant about rambling right?

Easter Fun & Outfit of the Day!

Happy Easter! Before I run off to spend the day with family, I thought I would give you a glimpse at what I'm wearing, and an Easter basket sneak peak. Yes I'm almost 20, yes I still get a basket. It's just filled with daily-use things instead of candy. Isn't that blue mason jar water bottle the cutest? Anyway, let's get started with an Easter outfit of the day!

My Cat is Spoiled Rotten

Zimby enjoys lounging around wrapped up in a blanket in her spare time.

It has come to my attention that my beautiful little Zimby is spoiled. Rotten. At Christmas she has a stocking full of presents, she gets toys during her birthday week, she has a million plushy beds even though she sleeps with me every night, and when I have to leave for more than a few hours, I leave a detailed list of her every need for my roommates. Maybe I take it a bit overboard, but she's basically my child.

Review: Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure

Good morning! Today I have a review for all you lovely ladies. If you read my Influenster UniVoxBox post you'll remember that one of the products I was sent to test out is the imPRESS Press-on Manicure. I was super excited to try out these nails because 1) I've never tried press on nails that don't use the traditional glue and 2) the pattern was so colorful and perfect for spring, I couldn't resist!

I was so excited to try them that I forgot to take a picture of the packaging before I ripped it open. The picture above is what the nails usually come packaged like.

The application process was really easy. I just had to peal off the backing, and literally press the fake nail onto my real one. I made sure to hold it down for ten seconds, and then it was done! It took me about 5 minutes to finish both hands. Here's how they looked:

Spring Thrifting Haul!

I was in a shopping mood this weekend, so the first place I went was the thrift store! I like to see if they have any of the things I'm looking for before going to other stores. They so totally did! I was looking mainly for some shorts, but found a few other things I couldn't pass up.

Here's what I found:

These shorts are originally from American Eagle. They don't even look worn, and I got them for $9.99! I just may be wearing them today...

Sometimes shoes can be a little iffy, but these ones are super cute! I love the bow, and they're quite squishy and comfy. Definitely something I could wear while working in the summer. They were $9.99 which seems a bit high for a thrift store, but I think it's because of the brand, condition, and general awesomeness of these bad boys.

I'm totally obsessed with loose linen shorts and pants this spring. These shorts are originally from Express, and were $7.99. I'm basically in love with them.
Try and guess how much these perfect-condition hot pink Rue 21 jeggings were... $3.99! For real. I had to get them. I've already worn them, and they fit like a glove. They look so springy with a white shirt and some sandals.

It wouldn't be thrifting if I didn't buy some mugs right? These two tall mugs were a 2 for 1 deal, and were $2.99! Oh how I love mugs...

Last but not least, I found these awesome white shorts. I've been looking for a pair for a while, and these ones fit the bill! They're originally from Abercrombie, and were $9.99. I wore them the day after I bought them, and they're perfect. They fit me nicely, and make my legs look instantly tanner. Woohoo!

What do you think about my findings? If you've recently gone thrifting and done a post about it, leave it below so I can check it out! Happy Monday :)
