Friday Five- Beauty, Songs, and More

I can't believe it's already time for another Friday Five! Man this week flew by. My favorites this week are kind of random, but hey, we can't always have a focus! Anywhere, here are my picks:

Frat Rules

Hey Girls! I go to a University where a fair amount of the Fraternities have houses, and therefore there's quite a few frat parties to choose from on the weekends. I feel like I always see girls making some...well, questionable decisions. But I don't think they even realize what they're doing! So here are some dos and don'ts I keep in mind when I go to a frat party.

Update & Thanks!

Hey guys! So I just finished writing a recipe post, and realized that all of the pictures I had taken for it somehow got deleted. So frustrating! So I'll just have to make it again, and hopefully I'll get that post up in the next few days. But for today, I thought I would do a sort of update post!

Wednesday Recap- Smelly People & Feeling Up Brains

I don't know about you, but this is exactly what I want to see at 8am...

Okay, so on Wednesdays we wear pink I have my four classes plus lab time, and by the end of the day my brain is mush...Therefore I have no desire to do a themed post. But, I will try to do recaps in the future if I remember! I'm only three classes into this semester, and already I feel like I've learned more than my last three semesters combined. It's been pretty intense. But I'm taking Abnormal Behavior, Personality Psychology, Psychobiology, and Mental Health and Society, so...I mean it's to be expected.

Tip-Tuesday: Surviving the T in Boston

      Source

For today's Tip Tuesday, I'm going to be talking about how to survive the T in Boston (as promised the other day)! If you aren't from a city (like me) and the T seems a little daunting, this may help! I haven't had a necessarily bad experience on the T, but I did have one interesting ride when I went to Boston a few weeks ago. Anyway, here are my tips!

Liebster Award?!

I'm not sure how I should even start this post, but I'm sooo excited to have been nominated for the Liebster Award! So thanks a bunch to the fabulous Miranda from Handmade. Homemade. Mermaid for nominating me!

So the Liebster Award is a way to promote new bloggers, and help bloggers gain some recognition. Here are the rules:

I'm Back!

Basically the only picture I took. I was just amazed by how empty the roads were.

That was short, right? Anyway, I'm home from Boston! Oh and confession time...I didn't really take any pictures. Honestly I had such a whirl-wind of a visit that I didn't really have time! I drove down with my step-dad and baby brother, so I was only there from about 5pm Saturday to 10am today (Sunday). I had such a great time with the bestie though!

Friday Five- Food!

Yay! It's time for another Friday Five! This is going to be another week that has a focus, so get excited to see five foods/drinks I've been loving! Having a milk allergy can be quite a hassle when it comes to finding foods I like, and can eat. These foods and drinks are what get me through the week...for the most part.

Ready for Boston!

Basically the only picture I took last time I was in Boston...Accept it

In two days -woohoo!- I'm heading down to Boston to visit my best friend! I'm sooo excited! This will sound awful, but I've never met her roommates, or even spent the night...and we're sophomores! I know, I'm a terrible best friend. But, trains and the T scare me (I'll explain some other time), and parking my car over night in Boston is 1. Expensive and 2. A bit of a risk. Just saying. So don't hate on me!

Selling My Soul For Textbooks

Still waiting for mine to come in, so we'll settle for this. Image from http://www.flickr.com/photos/photos_by_chrystal/2809604871/

Ya know, with the cost of going to college, you would think that the school could cover the cost of textbooks. Seriously. I could literally rant about why college students shouldn't have to buy their textbooks, but I know some people get all huffy about it and blah blah blah so I'm not going to. But still.

I usually wait until the second week of class before I even consider buying textbooks, because I've wasted way too much money on books that I will "absolutely need" that end

Manic Monday- Hello Anxiety

Considering the amount of anxiety I'm feeling... Manic Monday seems like a great title for this post. Maybe I'll make it a weekly thing? Basically, classes start on Wednesday for me. Today I had my lab training and orientation for a psych research lab that I'm doing, and my semester's schedule is finally coming together.

Driving in New England Weather

Image from http://www.flickr.com/photos/jacksonlatka/4396504563/ Author: Jackson Latka

I've lived in New England my whole life and I drive a tiny little breadbox of a jeep. It weighs all of two pounds, and hydroplanes like you would not believe when it rains. I could definitely use some new tires, and the roads in the winter are anything but dry. But what scares me about driving during snowy weather, is other drivers.

Vitamins and Milk Allergy

Image from http://www.flickr.com/photos/shannonkringen/5182061073/ Author: Shannon Kringen

Before finding out I had a milk allergy, I drank milk quite a bit. To my defense, I didn't know it was the milk making me sick! My body was constantly on attack mode, so it seemed like anything I ate or drank would make me sick and itchy, not to mention I felt like I had a year round cold. After going dairy free, I started to feel much better (I can't even explain), but I realized there might be a little problem. Cow's milk is very rich in

College Stress

Image found on blog.novatekcom.com

Spring Semester starts on Wednesday for me, and I'm already stressed! This semester I'm trying to juggle 3 tough psychology classes (psychobiology anyone?), 1 class for my minor once I pick one, 6 hours of lab work Monday-Friday, and babysitting all day Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm starting to accept that I'm not going to have a social life -at all.

My Shoe Obsession

I have just a little bit of a shoe obsession. Or...Well boots and heels to be more specific. I don't consider my boot obsession to necessarily be a bad thing, because I live in boots 3 seasons out of the year, and it's mostly just in the summer time that they don't get as much loving. So there's some justification for my growing amount of boots.

One corner of boots in my closet...

The obsession that is a tincy bit of a problem, is my heel obsession. It's gotten to the point where more than half of the heels in my closet don't fit me, or are incredibly uncomfortable, and I've never actually worn them out. Yeah, I suppose it's bad. But I just

Insomniac's... Read This!

I've had problems sleeping since...well, forever. I usually sleep through the night (although I've become a lighter sleeper over the years), but falling asleep is a big problem for me. I swear I can be absolutely exhausted, and still lay in bed for hours, just waiting to fall asleep. It's like my brain just doesn't shut off, and I can't stop thinking! Or, and this is even worse, I will be ready for bed, but once I lay down it's like I'm wide awake. Does that ever happen to you? I hate it.

No pictures of me sleeping...so here's my lovely kitty

I prefer to not take sleeping pills, because...well I don't know. Occasionally I will take a ZzzQuil, but I find that it doesn't really help me fall asleep. I get sort of tired after

2014 Fashion Trends

The holidays are over, semi-annual sales are coming to an end, and stores will soon be bringing out their spring clothing lines! I've been looking around at what's being modeled on the runways, and have noticed a few trends for 2014. It's always exciting for me to see what the new (and old) trends will be for the year, and I just had to share some of my thoughts!

Crop tops are here to stay!
Image from eonline.com

While I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't particularly appreciate the crop top trend that started in 2013, I'm loving it! You can't blame me. I'm 19, in college, from a beach town, and I happen to enjoy how crop tops look on me. So bring on the tiny shirts!

Girl Chat: 5 Ways to Deal With PMS

My unimpressed PMS face

Let's cut to the chase. Pissy Mood Syndrome PMS sucks, and can put a damper on your day. I'm not talking about cramps or bloating, I'm talking about the random rage that bubbles up for no reason. It's super annoying, no one appreciates it, and it's a total waste of a day. So to avoid all of that, here are 5 ways to deal with PMS:

The Adventures of Kimmy and Bug

That dark smudge on the left is the bug...And no, that isn't a small plate

Okay it's story time. Let's talk about bugs...because there is currently one planning war in my room. So I was just sitting here, checking Facebook and all of a sudden this flying thing is coming right at me. And it's not some tiny little fly, it's a big bug. So

OOTD: Warm Winter Weather!

Today New England had uncharacteristically warm weather (high 40's!). So in honor of me being able to wear my pea coat without freezing my tata's off, I decided I would do an outfit of the day! (Okay, I also just loved my outfit).
Photo cred to my wonderful little sister
Looks like Fall doesn't it? I love being able to just wear my pea coat, a pair of cute boots, and a scarf. If that sounds like something you would typically wear in the

Banana Boat Summer Color Self Tanner Review

Image from drugstore.com

I'm so excited to do a positive review on the Banana Boat Summer Color self tanner! I've tried quite a few self tanners and until now, I have never found one that I truly loved. I'm going to Florida for spring break this year, and I want to look tan! I figure if I fake tan, I can lather myself with sunscreen, not burn to a crisp, and look like a beach goddess. Let me tell you, I have found a winner as far as self tanners go!

Ultimate Girls Night In Movie Guide!

Image from yourdesignpartner.com

There's nothing better than having a girls night with some friends/roommates! No matter what your festivities include, it's always good to have a movie on! I know how hard it can be to decide on a movie when you're presented with a million and one suggestions, so I'll keep my list short and sweet for each category. Eat some chocolate for me, and enjoy!

Friday Five ~ Hair

Tangle Tamer Max, Heat Spray, Organix Conditioner, Large Hair Donut, Psssst! Dry Shampoo

So I'm sitting here waiting for my fake tan to dry (review coming soon) and I thought I would do a Friday Five post! Basically, it's things I've been loving over the past week. This week I've been loving a lot of different hair products and tools, so that's the focus. Now, let's move on to my favorites!

My Holy Grail Face Wash

Image from drugstore.com

Skin. I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with mine. I have true combination skin. My cheeks are super dry, my forehead is perfect, the sides of my chin are dry while my chin itself flip flops between normal and oily, and my nose is downright oily. Oh, and I also have sensitive skin. Yeah, it's great. Face wash has always been a sore subject for me, because most washes that say they're gentle, peel my skin like an orange.

5 Ways To Get Rid Of A Stage Five Clinger

Image of Jenna Marbles found on fanpop.com

So you've hooked yourself a stage five clinger. I am truly sorry. *Moment of silence* Moving on, at some point everyone will have a run-in with a stage five clinger, even if they are a stage five clinger. If I'm going too fast and you don't understand what a stage five clinger is (although you should), I'll break it down for you. This is basically that guy/girl that text's you all the time, or more than is appropriate. They always want to see you, be around you, talk to you, smell you...Okay that last one might be exaggerating a

New Boots! ~ JustFab

Clora style boot- JustFab.com (click here)

Woohoo! Today I came home to these pretty little things waiting for me on the counter. Well, they weren't actually waiting per say, but a big JustFab box was! If you don't know what JustFab is, you must be living under a rock...Seriously. Click here if you want to know more about how JustFab works.
Okay, now let's talk about these boots! These are the Clora boots in brown. While I have quite the growing collection of JustFab shoes, their boots are by far my favorite.

OOTD: Babysitting

Long orange T-shirt & Leggings- Old Navy. Scarf- Kohl's. Jacket- Forever 21. Boots- Gap

I had some free time today while babysitting (gotta love nap time) and thought I would share what I typically wear when I babysit. If I try to look spectacular or really plan an outfit, it takes at least an hour. Seriously. Ask my roommates. Since I generally won't be out in public when I babysit, there's no need to put too much effort into an outfit. Comfy is key, and so is warmth! A pair of black leggings will go with just about anything, and a scarf will add a little something extra to a boring outfit. Voila.

Oh Bridesmaids

Image from talkingcents.consumercredit.com

Being a bridesmaid can be a ton of fun or a living hell. It all depends on the bride, your fellow bridesmaids, and your attitude. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones, but in my experience, being a bridesmaid is great! You get to have a ton of girly days, and a reason to get all dolled up. Having a very laid-back bride and a group of nice girls helps too. After talking with other people and watching one too many episodes of Say Yes to The Dress, I have some things to say about those bridesmaids that ruin it for everyone else.

Milk (Dairy) Allergy for Dummies

Image from http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Milk_jugs_in_a_row.jpg / Author: ChildofMidnight

So you, or someone you know has a milk allergy. Understanding a milk allergy can be incredibly confusing, because not many people know about it. Milk allergies aren't very common. A very small amount of babies are born with a milk allergy, but about 80% of those babies grow out of it by the time they are 6. The remaining even smaller amount of babies will have their milk allergy in adulthood. So hey, you're one of those lucky few! God know's how confused I was when I was first told I had a milk allergy, so hopefully I can clear some things up.

Top 10 TV Shows to Watch (Just Because)

Being in college, I'm way too busy to watch TV... Haha, just kidding. I can't tell you how many times I've stayed awake until 4:30 am because I just had to watch one more episode. It can be nice to just drop what you're doing and escape to someone else's life for a little while. I won't go into too much detail, but here's a little background on my favorite shows, and why they're worth watching:

1. Supernatural
 Image from sciencefiction.com

I don't know if it's because the two main characters are gorgeous, or because...okay let's be honest, it's because they're gorgeous, but I am obsessed with this show! I'm a

Apartment vs. Dorm Living (As a Freshman)

It can be difficult to decide between living in an apartment or living in a dorm for your first year of college. Some colleges and universities don't give first year students the option; living in a dorm is a requirement. For those of you who do have the option, I'll tell you about my experience, and give you some pro's and con's for each living situation.

When I found out I was accepted to my first choice university, one of the first things I thought about was where I would be living. I ended up choosing to live in an "off-campus"
