Wilmington Stole My Heart

I didn't expect to fall in love with it, but I did. Wilmington is the place I'm supposed to be. I know it.

If you didn't know, last Wednesday to Saturday my mom and I took a road trip down to Wilmington, North Carolina. I'm transferring to UNCW in the fall, and wanted to check out apartments and get a feel for the city.

I'm not a city girl, but I'm also by no means a country girl. I grew up in a small beach town that sees tons of tourists in the summer, but feels like a ghost-town in the winter. I'm a bit sheltered to say the least. I'm not a huge fan of big cities. The constant noise, tons of people flooding the sidewalks, traffic...It's not my thing.

Wilmington is the perfect city for me. It feels like a great bit town. The UNCW campus is nestled off of one of the main roads, the historic area is beyond gorgeous, downtown has incredible amounts of shops without the hustle and bustle, and most importantly, the beach is amazing! Everyone seemed so much friendlier than here in New England, and I never once felt overwhelmed. I found an apartment that I'm in love with, and everything is just falling into place.

I'm counting down the days until I move down there. I'll miss all my friends and family, but I'm beyond excited to begin this new journey.

  5. My husband and I LOVE North Carolina! We were even going to move there but just didn't have luck in the work department so we stayed on Long Island. Good luck with your move!

  7. Finding the right place where we perfectly fit is a very beautiful moment for all of us. I've been moving around to different cities quite a lot, living in a different apartment each time, but there's always that one favorite place that I miss. I can genuinely say, I know how you feel about Wilmington. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new apartment, Kim. Take care! :)
