Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation Review

In my UniVoxBox from Influenster, I received the Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation. It definitely made an impression on me, so I thought I would do a review on it. All products received from Influenster are for testing purposes. All opinions are my own, or else I wouldn't be doing this review :)

My Skin: I have normal/dry combination skin. I have dry cheeks and chin, normal forehead, and a normal/oily nose. I have sensitive skin, but it's not acne prone at all, and I generally am blemish free. I do have slight redness around the corners of my nose, but that's it. Here is a picture of my skin with no makeup:

Application: I moisturized as usual before putting on the foundation. I didn't use any primer (I normally don't anyway), applied the foundation with a flat topped brush, and then put a very light dusting of setting powder on my nose. It went on smoothly, was easy to blend out, and I really only needed a tiny amount to cover my face. The rest of my makeup just includes a little blush and some eye-makeup. Here's how it looked:

First Impression: You can still see my skin come through this foundation which I really love. It doesn't necessarily have a matte finish per say, but it isn't dewy whatsoever. It looks totally natural, and definitely impressed me.

As you can see, my face does look a little lighter than the rest of my body, but I think it still looks great. Part of the lightness could be how I angled the camera, because it doesn't have the "ghost" appearance that comes up with some other foundations. I hope I'm making sense here.

Lasting Power: I would say you may need to touch up during the day. I noticed that I started to get shiny all over after about4-5 hours. It wasn't too bad, but enough for me to noticed when I looked in the mirror. I lightly dusted some setting powder over my entire face which completely took care of it. If you have oily skin, I would say use a setting powder from the start and you'll be all set.

Overall: I honestly like this foundation. I can be a foundation snob, but Rimmel really impressed me. It didn't make me look cakey, it didn't dry out my skin, and the finish was beautiful. I wasn't too impressed with the lasting power considering my entire face got shiny instead of just my T-zone. Adding a setting powder to the entire face after application will definitely help it last longer throughout the day. I probably wouldn't wear it if I was going out to a club or going to spend an entire day in a humid climate, but it's perfect for normal daily wear. Good job Rimmel!

Have you tried it? Let me know what you thought!

  1. You looks so gorgeous with and without the foundation! You're so lucky you have nice skin. My skin was always perfect until a few years ago. It makes no sense now that I'm older. *tear* hehe enjoy the foundation! :)
