Rude People at the Post Office

     Source
Good morning! It's 11:45 and I already have a story to tell you. I feel like today is going to be one of those event-filled days. Anyway, I went to the post office this morning, on my way to babysitting, to ship my Love in a Box package to Tiffany! Let me tell you, it was quite an experience.

When I walked in, there was already a line of about 6 people, and within five minutes there was at least 10 people in line behind me. Oh, and there was only one poor employee helping everyone. It was fantastic. As I was standing there, trying not to look annoyed, these three ladies in front of me started whispering not so quietly. They were bashing on the guy who was helping everyone, and making snide remarks about how he should "grow a brain" and ask another employee for help. Mind you, all these ladies were easily in their forties.

It annoyed me. If you're going to make a comment like that, you should at least have enough tact to not say it loudly enough for the person to hear. It made me think of Mean Girls. Just saying. Finally one of the ladies goes, "Excuse me? I don't know if you've noticed the line, but I think you should go get someone to help," all sweetly. I have to admit, I wanted to kick the back of her knees.

The employee then said, "Thanks I have noticed the line. I'm actually the only one here, and I'm not even supposed to be... So no, I can't," and continued helping his current customer. He totally deserved a pat on the back, and that lady zipped her smack talking lips after that. Like, HELLO people, if he had someone there to help him, don't you think he would have already asked for help? No need to be snarky.

So, that's my story of the morning. I was there for 25 minutes, which sucked, but it's a college campus post office, so what do you expect? I also realized at the end, that I could have dropped my package off at the other counter. I'm working on my common sense. Anyway, how's your morning going?

  1. I really can't stand rude people- especially when they are rude to someone who is trying their best. Ugh!

  2. This has happened to me before but at the financial aid office (which always has a guaranteed 40 minute wait). I'm not as polite as you so I definitely called them out on being rude to the person who just trying to get some answers about her financial aid, all they could do is stand there looking embarrassed for the next 15 minutes until it was their turn :D

    1. Good for you! I'm usually more outspoken and blunt, but I felt as though they would have just lifted their noses at me thinking I was some dumb college kid (given the age difference between us).

  3. The post office was crazy packed when I went to ship your package too. I can't believe those ladies were talking badly about that poor guy working by himself. Obviously common sense would tell you that, like you said, if there was someone else there, they would've been helping him. I'm glad he shot back something clever!

  4. The post office is always packed when I go and I go all the time because I ship way too many packages to my friends and family. There are a couple of automated booths where you can ship them yourself here so that is what I tend to do, except when they are out of order which is half of the time.
